Eaton RCCB Distributor in India
Shah N Shah supplies genuine Eaton RCCBs (Residual Current Circuit Breakers) for residential, commercial and industrial electrical installations. An RCCB helps protect people and installations by detecting residual current flowing to earth and disconnecting the circuit when leakage is detected. We support buyers looking for Eaton PFIM RCCB and FRCmM RCCB ranges with product identification, technical selection assistance and quotation support across India.
Choose a device by its rated current, residual operating current (sensitivity), number of poles, leakage-current type and the installation’s coordination requirements. Exact availability and specifications depend on the model code; share the part number or a clear nameplate photo when requesting a quote.
What Does an RCCB Do?
An RCCB continuously compares the current flowing through the live conductors with the current returning through the circuit. If a difference indicates current leaking to earth, the device trips. This helps reduce the risk of electric shock and leakage-related fire, but an RCCB does not provide overload or short-circuit protection by itself. It must be coordinated with a suitable MCB or other overcurrent protective device, unless the chosen solution is an RCBO, which combines both functions.
Eaton RCCB Range: PFIM and FRCmM
Eaton xPole PFIM RCCB
The Eaton xPole PFIM range is designed for residential and small-commercial applications. Depending on the exact model, PFIM devices are available with different pole configurations, rated currents and residual-current characteristics. Eaton documents Type AC and Type A variants, along with specialised variants for particular installation requirements. Confirm the exact model code before selecting or ordering a replacement.
Eaton xEffect FRCmM RCCB
The Eaton xEffect FRCmM-125 range includes higher-rated RCCBs for industrial and advanced commercial switchgear. Specific versions include Type B and specialised Bfq/B+ variants. Eaton’s documentation identifies all-current-sensitive models and versions intended for applications such as installations with frequency converters. These are model-specific features, so do not assume every FRCmM device has the same leakage-current detection or time-delay behaviour.
Type AC vs Type A vs Type B RCCB
- Type AC: Detects sinusoidal alternating residual current. Use only where the connected loads and applicable electrical design rules permit this type.
- Type A: Detects sinusoidal AC and pulsating DC residual current. It is often considered for circuits supplying electronic equipment, but the device must still match the equipment manufacturer’s requirements.
- Type B: Designed to detect AC, pulsating DC and smooth DC residual currents within its specified range. It may be required for certain drives, converters or other equipment that can produce smooth DC residual current.
Type selection is application-dependent. Review the equipment documentation and installation design rather than choosing solely by price or by the RCCB’s ampere rating.
How to Choose the Correct Eaton RCCB
- Rated current (A): Select to suit the circuit, upstream protection and design conditions; this is not the same as leakage sensitivity.
- Residual operating current (mA): Choose the required sensitivity for the protection objective and local code. A 30 mA device is commonly used for additional personal protection, while higher sensitivities may be specified for other purposes. Do not substitute one sensitivity for another without engineering review.
- Number of poles: Confirm whether the installation needs a two-pole or four-pole device and verify the wiring arrangement.
- Residual-current type: Match Type AC, A, B or a specialised variant to the load and manufacturer instructions.
- Coordination and installation: Check the upstream overcurrent device, selectivity/time delay where needed, prospective fault conditions, wiring and applicable standards.
RCCB vs MCB vs RCBO
An RCCB detects earth leakage; an MCB protects against overload and short circuit; an RCBO combines earth-leakage and overcurrent protection in one device. They serve different functions and are not interchangeable without checking the protection design. For the wider Eaton protection range, see our Eaton circuit breakers page.
