PFIM RCCB
Eaton xPole PFIM RCCB – Residual Current Circuit Breakers
Shah N Shah supplies the Eaton xPole PFIM RCCB range for residual-current protection in residential and small-commercial electrical installations. PFIM residual current circuit breakers detect earth-leakage current and disconnect the circuit when the detected residual current reaches the device’s specified operating conditions. They are used for fault protection and additional protection as required by the installation design.
The PFIM range includes model-specific variants such as Type AC and Type A, as well as specialised versions including Type F and other application-specific characteristics. The right choice depends on the connected loads, the required residual-current sensitivity, rated current, pole configuration and coordination with upstream protection. Always verify the full Eaton catalogue number before purchase.

Eaton xPole PFIM Type AC and Type A RCCB – Type AC and Type A variants for suitable applications.
Eaton xPole PFIM Type F RCCB – Type F residual-current detection for compatible loads where the equipment and installation design call for it.
Type AC, Type A and Type F: what is the difference?
Type AC: Detects sinusoidal alternating residual current. Confirm that this type is suitable for the connected equipment and applicable installation rules.
Type A: Detects sinusoidal AC and pulsating DC residual current. It is often considered for circuits supplying electronic loads, subject to equipment instructions.
Type F: Designed to respond to specified residual-current waveforms that can occur with certain single-phase frequency-controlled equipment. Check Eaton’s documentation for the exact device and application.
These types are not interchangeable by default. Select the residual-current type from the load characteristics and manufacturer recommendations, not from price alone.
How to select an Eaton PFIM RCCB
Rated current (A): Match the device to the circuit design and upstream overcurrent protection.
Residual operating current (mA): Select the required sensitivity for the protection objective and local code; 30 mA is commonly used for additional personal protection in applicable circuits.
Pole configuration: Confirm whether the installation requires a two-pole or four-pole device and check the wiring arrangement.
RCCB type: Confirm Type AC, A, F or a specialised variant against the load and Eaton’s technical documentation.
Coordination: An RCCB does not provide overload or short-circuit protection by itself. Coordinate it with a suitable MCB or fuse, or assess whether an RCBO is the correct solution.
Exact catalogue number: Verify the complete model code, voltage, rated current, sensitivity and accessories before ordering or replacing a device.
PFIM RCCB vs MCB vs RCBO
An RCCB detects residual current (earth leakage); an MCB protects against overload and short circuit; an RCBO combines residual-current and overcurrent protection. These devices have different functions. See our Eaton RCD range, MCB range and RCBO products for related options.
